The Refurbishment of Slip Expansion Joints in Line

The refurbishment of a district heating line: replacement and maintenance of slip type expansion joints.

In October, 2019, we supplied several sets of slip type expansion joints to a refurbishment project in Taiyuan city, Shanxi province. The refurbishment job was conducted on a local heating supply line, which had been in use for more than 6 years. Regular maintenance found that 2 sets of the slip expansion joints should be replaced and the other 6 sets required replenishment of packing materials (flexible graphite). The pipes are polyurethane coated for thermal insulation purpose. Piping specifications: design pressure 2.5 MPa, design temperature 150°C, nominal pipe size 20″ (DN 500), wall thickness of pipe: SCH 40.
