Seamless tubes made of ASTM A213 Grade TP316 or Grade TP316L are generally used for the construction of boilers, superheaters or heat exchangers. They are also know as TP316/ TP316L boiler tubes, superheater tubes, or heat exchanger tubes. The UNS designations of ASTM A213 TP316 and TP316L are S31600 and S31603, respectively, with the P number of 8. Compared to TP304/ TP304L tubes, TP316/ TP316L tubes have enhanced pitting corrosion resistance in chloride environments due to the addition of molybdenum.
Sizes: inside diameter ≥ 0.125″ and outside diameter ≤ 5″; wall thickness (minimum or average): 0.015″~0.500″; length: specific or random; heat treatment: solution treatment (at minimum 1900°F/1040°C) + quench; cold drawn or hot rolled; bright annealed or pickled.

One flattening test and one flaring test shall be made on specimens from each end of one finished tube for each heat lot. Other tests and inspection include: tensile test, hardness test, eddy-current test, dimensional inspection and visual examination.
