ASTM A182 F60 Forgings for Filter Vessels

In 2020, Shijiazhuang Metalsin was invited to supply a series of piping components to the Tinrhert Field Development Project in Algeria. The engineering, procurement and construction contract EPC1 of this project was awarded to Petrofac. EPC1 is expected to provide a new inlet separation and compression center. The scope of work includes a pipeline network of approximately 400 km to connect 36 wells, along with commissioning, start-up and performance testing of facilities. The project is located at Ohanet, around 1,500 km southeast of Algiers.

The piping components we supplied include standard & nonstandard flanges and self-reinforced nozzles for a filter vessel of the project. The material covers carbon steel (ASTM A105), austenitic stainless steel (ASTM A182 F316L), and duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel (ASTM A182 F60). The photos presented above show some typical forgings made from ASTM A182 Gr. F60 (UNS S32205). Minimum 5% of the total quantity per heat shall be subjected to nondestructive tests such as PMI, dye penetration testing, and pitting corrosion test. The ferrite content of duplex 2205 shall be measured by metallographic examination as per ASTM E562 with volume fraction in the range of 30% to 65%. Pitting corrosion test shall be performed in accordance with Method A of ASTM G48 – ferric chloride test. No pitting at 20 times magnification and the weight loss shall be less than 4.0 g/m².
