A typical G.A. drawing for split body universal wafer type butterfly valves, fully PTFE lined and lever operated, single through shaft design.

Design features: (1) Split body design: The PTFE liner is sandwiched between two body halves and bolted together. This design allows for easy removal of the lining after it becomes worn. (2) Fully lined design: The composite soft seat is made of EPDM rubber and PTFE lining. The EPDM rubber held in place by the body provides sufficient elasticity as sealing load, while the PTFE lining in contact with the fluid provides superior corrosion resistance. The disc is PTFE encapsulated. The PTFE-on-PTFE seating surfaces make for a very tight shutoff in low-pressure-drop applications and elevated temperatures. (3) Suitable for multiple types of flange connection. (4) Thrust washers are placed on both sides of the disc, between the disc and the body, to keep the disc firmly centered with the seat.

The split body fully PTFE lined wafer type butterfly valve can be designed and manufactured in accordance with MSS SP 67, API 609, BS 5155, EN 593, or DIN 3202. Due to the incorporation of PTFE linings, the working temperature range can be -10°C to 250°C. Pressure ratings available are Class 125, Class 150, PN 10, and PN 16.
